Human 2.0 Artist – Debargo Sanyal
This interview series will focus on the artists of DEINDE and ForePlay Human 2.0, asking them to riff on the themes and question of the plays.
Chances are, you’ve seen Debargo Sanyal on a stage recently, because he often seems to be juggling several projects at once. This is his second ForePlay with Flux, and he’s currently appearing in fellow Human 2.0 artist Larry Kunofsky’s play, Your Boyfriend May Be Imaginary.
What crazy invention are you most looking forward to in the future?
A way to completely change your voice! (I want my voice to sound just like Capt Jean-Luc Picard!)
In 2051, theatre will be…
All Flux-y, all the time.
If you could evolve one of your own senses, which would it be, and why?
So, whatever neurological/magical/sensory whoozeewhatsit enables ladies to have multiple orgasms—I want that.
For the human race to evolve, it will need to…
…stop watching “Jersey Shore”.
A time-travelling-you from the future suddenly appears with something important to tell present-you. What do they have to say?
“FYI, your kids have turned out just like you—so, be afraid—be very afraid.”
Will the future be more like Star Trek, Star Wars, Battlestar Galactica, or the Jetsons? The Matrix.
If you had the opportunity to think and feel directly into a computer, would you take it?
No. The idea of that sorta gives me the heebie-jeebies.
What do you have coming up in the near future that you want our readers to know about it? Performing in a cool new play this month called “Your Boyfriend May Be Imaginary”—produced by The Management Theater Company, at Under St Mark’s in the East Village, April 5th to 28th, written by Larry Kunofsky (a fellow Human 2.0 artist!)
