Human 2.0 Artist – Kitty Lindsay
This interview series will focus on the artists of DEINDE and ForePlay Human 2.0, asking them to riff on the themes and question of the plays.
Kitty Lindsay has participated in many Flux events, from the Food:Soul of Miss Lilly Gets Boned pictured above to ForePlays and Flux Sundays. She somehow has also found time to co-found two theatre companies without seeming to break a sweat.
What crazy invention are you most looking forward to in the future?
Two words. Teleportation device. Think of the increase in daily productivity! Plus. I’d never have to ride the subway again. Suck it, MTA. Beam me up, Scotty!
In 2051, theatre will be ________.
Lucrative? HA! No. My hope is that theatre will continue to provide a safe home for people to share their creative light and give voice to those individuals who may not yet have discovered the power of their own expression.
If you could evolve one of your own senses, which would it be, and why?
My sense of self. It’s very easy to lose sight of it. Especially in show business. Yes, technically not one of the five senses, but to me, still the most important.
For the human race to evolve, it will need to_____.
Empathize.
A time-travelling-you from the future suddenly appears with something important to tell present-you. What do they have to say?
“Look at me! You haven’t aged a bit!” And. “Stop worrying. It will all be okay!”
Will the future be more like Star Trek, Star Wars, Battlestar Galactica, or the Jetsons?
I hope the future will be more like The Jetsons. If you’ve ever been to my apartment, you know I’m in DESPERATE need of a robot maid. Plus. The fashions are super cute!
If you had the opportunity to think and feel directly into a computer, would you take it?
If I were to think and feel into a computer, I’m pretty sure the device would explode from the intense pressure of my own personal brand of crazy.
What do you have coming up in the near future that you want our readers to know about it?
I’m super duper excited to participate in Flux’s Foreplay: Human 2.0 Monday, April 9th. I’m directing Lauren Hunter’s one woman show “Help Yourself” at Dixon Place Wednesday, April 11th. I’m directing a short piece for Writopia’s 2012 Best Playwright’s Festival at 59E59 in May. And. My sketch group, White Cotton Panties Comedy, begins filming our pilot, “Happiness Is…” this week! Stay tuned!
