Rebecca Roman Redd Spotlight: Christopher Moncayo-Torres
We’re thrilled to continue the spotlight of the creative team for Rebecca Roman Redd at the Most Dangerous Hour with Christopher Moncayo-Torres, who plays Ricardo Betancourt de la Gran Iglesia. Christopher is a newer collaborator with Flux, but already he’s made an impact on Core Work through his joyfully human writing and acting skills. We asked Christopher a few questions based on Montserrat Mendez’s dizzyingly funny and brilliant new play, which you can learn more about here and at the RSVP link below:

On a scale of 1 to werewolf, how close of a relationship do you have with the moon?
Do you know how in the film Moonstruck, Cher calls Nicholas Cage “a wolf without a foot”? For some reason this question made me think of that and how that’s been referenced at me more than once. Does that track somewhere on the scale?
Finish the sentence: the best kind of tart is a ____ tart.

Christopher Moncayo-Torres and the Late-tino’s dance with Ecuadorian Time.
Christopher Moncayo-Torres (he/him) is an Ecuadorian-American playwright, teaching artist and live storyteller, born and bred in Queens, NY. Most recently, he performed with his Ecuadorian father (who made his acting debut at 79) in “Habla y te Salvas: True Stories of a No Sabo Kid from Queens & his Guayaco Dad”- a multi-award-winning, two person storytelling show about rekindling their once estranged relationship, despite their language barrier. He’s now working with his mother on a storytelling-cooking show about her Ecuadorian recipe book. He’s also been featured on The Moth Radio Hour podcast and is currently one of their live storytelling instructors. He’s honored and excited to be acting in his first Flux staged reading.
