What a night! The Feud between The Wands and The Wings was neck and neck, the fast money round was a thriller, the costumes were super, the photo booth (pictures from that to come) was bumping, the food and drinks were flowing, the raffle prizes were gleaming and the night few by in a blissful haze.
Flux offers a huge thank you to our amazing benefit committee, contestants, raffle prize donors, Jake and the Maritime, and everyone who skipped a debate to attend a Feud. You can learn more about the event here, but now, photos from the magic eye of Isaiah Tanenbaum.
The Wands were a strong team, made up of Jeremy Pickard, Mac Rogers, Chinaza Uche, Caridad Svich, Kathleen Chalfant and pure huddling teamwork.
But The Wings were just as dangerous, featuring Virginia Louloudes, Ralph B. Peña, Rachael Hip-Flores, Matthew Trumbull and David Levin.
And between them stood your witty and warm host, Matt Archambault.
Matt took a brief break from the tense competition to interview contestants Caridad and Kathy.
On Team Wings, Ralph and Rachael were all focus.
After The Wings surged to a mid-game lead, The Wands made a last-ditch dash to come back…
…but it was not to be. Ah, the heartbreak! The thrill of at all! The Feud!
Was The Wings victory due to the alleged raffle winner, David “The Ringer” Levin? His Martin Van Buren costume gives nothing away.
David was outdrawn by Superhero Clubhouse’s Jeremy, but…
…could Chinaza keep it together against Rachael’s lightning laughter?
He could not, and so Rachael advanced to the unbearable pressure of the Fast Money Round…and emerged unbroken.
And everyone cheered for the the hard-fought victory of The Wings!
And then it was time for Maria Portman Vanna Kelly and Heather Flapper Cohn to start the righteous raffle (prize-winners to be announced soon).
Friends like Laura Jo Schuster and Will Lowry took advantage of the photo booth for sweetness…
…before it was quickly taken over by supervillains.
Thankfully, superheroes like The Yellow Submarine were in attendance (has anyone ever noticed how you never see The Yewllow Submarine and Flor de liz Perez in the same room?)
And there were true superheroes present, like Benefit planning maestro Heather and Maritime magician, Jake Alexander (ah, the moths of nostalgia batter at my unravelled heart!)
Our host took a well-deserved break to yuck it up with friends.
And of course, no Flux Benefit would be complete without a merciless game of stacking. Why did we teach Jen and Chinaza how to play? Thankfully, my dignity is clearly completely in tact, judging from Jonny’s expression.
